Belly Dancing for Bats is a non-profit performance event to raise money for Bat Conservation International to conduct research on White-nose Syndrome. White-nose Syndrome (WNS) is a deadly epidemic that has swept through North America's bat populations and continues to spread west across the continent.
Why save Bats?
- No Bats = More Mosquitoes
- One Little Brown Bat can eat 1000 mosquito sized insects in one hour!
- No Bats = More Pesticides
- Bats eat many of the agricultural pests that harmful chemical pesticides are used to kill. The bats don't contaminate our food supply.
- No Bats = No Tequila
- Bats pollinate the agave plant from which tequila is made. In broader terms, fruit bats are major pollinators worldwide, pollinating the fruits and vegitables we consume.
- No Bats = No Guano
- Guano, the best... fertilizer... on earth!
